I like to eat lentils. It is easy to cook, not so heavy on the stomach and tastes somewhat between peas and beans. You can prepare it with or without meat. I use green lentils for this dish. You can buy it at all health food stores.
Ingredients:
- 250-300g of green lentils
- onion
- 1 grated carrot
- sausage
- 2-3 spoons of olive oil
- bay leaf
- spices (salt, pepper etc.)
- cup of tomato juice
Preparation time: one hour
Chop and saute the sausage in a deeper pan with a little oil. Remove it and insert a finely chopped onion and grated carrot. After 5 minutes, pour in the lentils and water. Water should completely cover the lentils. Insert bay leaf and (if desired) a cup of tomato juice. Wait for it to boil, then reduce the heat. Insert the sausage and let it simmer for half an hour. Add water as needed as the lens absorbs plenty of water when cooking. When the lens softens, you can add a
browned flour if you like.
